Welcome to Canopy Weather

Hello and welcome to the Canopy Weather!

The winds of change are blowing, and we’re here to make sure you don’t get swept up in the storm.

We invite you to follow along as we explore a wide range of topics relevant to real-world business applications. From emerging industry trends and bleeding-edge technology to evolving best practices, we are here to bring you the inside scoop.

First though, let us introduce ourselves:

We are Canopy Weather. We launched a few months ago with an ambitious plan to seamlessly link science, technology, and business. Our Co-founders, Don Giuliano and Matt Van Every, bring with them a uniquely deep understanding of weather data as it applies to the business world.

Before co-founding Canopy Weather, Don and Matt were partners at Weather Fusion, a weather technology startup that serviced the storm restoration industry. Together, and with the help of a capable team, they would fuel the creation of the automated weather forensics industry as it exists today. From pioneering hail size technology, to the introduction of automated hail mapping and insurance claim verification products, Matt and Don quickly transformed the storm restoration landscape. They successfully sold Weather Fusion to CoreLogic (NYSE: CLGX) in 2014, and then spent several years working directly in the construction industry. These experiences eventually led them to an interesting conclusion: Weather Data Needs a Reset.

What makes us different from every other weather data company? It’s our application-first approach. This means we:

  1. Find a business application that requires weather data

  2. Identify questions that must be answered to properly service the application

  3. Design datasets from the ground up to answer those questions

  4. Build out capabilities required to effectively use these datasets

  5. Apply those datasets to real-world problems

What does this mean for you? Weather data and derivatives that delivers real-world results.

We look forward to keeping you in the loop as we introduce new technologies on our path to transforming the weather data industry.
